Alice

March 23, 2018 at 9:52 am (Poems) (, , , , , )

Alice drank the bottle dry
Her life shifted
She craved entertainment
Following an impossible rabbit.

Her life shifted
The garden was beautiful for a time
But getting out was a problem
And overeating overcompensated.

She craved entertainment
But was swept away in a pool of tears
People plied her with reasoning
Which made no sense to Alice.

Following an impossible rabbit
Alice joined a tea drinking forum
And met many false friends
Narrowly avoiding heartbreak.

Leap

September 9, 2014 at 6:06 am (philosophy) (, , , , , )

How quick the leap of faith –
an extra breath,
hanging free from all restraint
imposed and once accepted.

What madness to undo
the tie of twisted rope,
fishing out spliced ends
which for decades held true.

And edge forwards.
I see a shaman’s face
observing from the moon.
Aye, but these limbs are my own.

Risk, courage or stupidity,
the unfamiliar domain of
some other bird. No more easing out –
Time to leap and trust the air.

Fig Tree

August 30, 2014 at 11:01 am (philosophy) (, , )

Forbidden tree, beautiful Sykeus,
I will spill your seeds, and risk enlightenment,
though it means long hours of toil.
Here, in the wilderness, you are my courage and fortitude
and a flexible place to call my home.
I will build, not to impress, but to shelter and renew,
and I know you will feed me – together we will bear great fruit.

Transition

December 8, 2012 at 11:17 pm (literature, philosophy, Poems, poetry, Stories) (, , , , , , , , , , )

The train is leaving, but there is the head of a child

Resolutely wedged in my door of change

A sense of submerging as the old breath runs out

Nasty phobias manifest at times like this

Surrendering, the final click  elicits a sick shiver.

.

I begin again with an awkward moment.

.

This is how life pans out on my emergence

I walk strangely into a squeaky new room

Only when I am firmly ensconced, do I open my eyes.

.

Now though,  once again, my Mind is in the Gap, MIND THE GAP, MIND THE GAP!
