Christmas 2018

December 22, 2018 at 12:52 pm (Poems) (, , )

Political Christmas approaches
The stables are filled with the bray
Of animalistic impressionists
Who think they control us today.

But know in your heart it’s the small things –
The smiles we exchange in the street
The warmth of a hand on a cold day
A kindness, a cuddle, a treat –

It’s these things that fill up our stockings
And give us the strength to go on,
Let’s share out our loving this Christmas
And hurry glad tidings along.

Julia, dear. It is wonderful to hear from you again! Merry Christmas to you, also. I continue to follow your poetry with great joy (and, to be honest, much envy). I love how you make us smile and break our hearts, sometimes in the same piece and even at the same time.

Thank you for your kind words – it’s fun to be here. I hope to navigate through time better next year, having learned a few lessons! Keep safe xxxx
